HERON CHAIR
British, c1950s. The Heron chair is a Mid Century design classic by renowned modernist designer Ernest Race. Synonymous with the 1951 Festival of Britain, Race’s work frequently pioneered new materials particularly the use of metals that were in excess following World War 2. The Heron chair has a unique metal frame with stunning steel legs that mimick it’s namesake and contrast the soft furnishing upholstery. This is an early example.

The armchair is exceptionally comfortable having also had the Pirelli webbing freshly replaced in both pieces along with complementary lining added under the seat and footrest cushions. The elegant steel legs are all present with their original feet.
