East German TEAK DESK
East Germany, c1950/60s. Beautifully proportioned retro teak finished desk. Stamped to the underside with 'GDR' (for German Democratic Republic). The black legs and handles are wood and shouldn't be confused with cheaper style metal desks. The black paint is also original and not a later upcycle.
The stunning grain pattern to the top surface, the 2 slide out drawers and cute open storage space give this retro piece a surprising contemporary feel.

In excellent condition with no damage to note, the top has been re-oiled. A really lovely sized piece for the space conscious home. We have one of these ourselves in our spare room and it works really well as a stylish piece of furniture that doesn't then make your guests feel like they're staying in an office!
