E. GOMME OAK TALLBOY

CC41 UTILITY SCHEME

British, 1940/50s. Genuiniely rare light oak tallboy by E. Gomme (the company that preceeded the G Plan brand). Comes complete with the official 'CC41' stamp as part of the post WW2 utility furniture scheme. The '‘Controlled Commodity’ seal of approaval signified that a pidce of furniture met the governments austerity regulation standards. It is a wonderful piece of British furniture history with lots of further to be found online. And the logo looks like Pacman which is also awesome!

Beautifully constructed, the tallboy has 2 drawers over a large cupboard space with removable shelf. There are elegant handles, a quality oak finish and chunky stubby legs that sets this piece apart from the more rudimentary tallboys of the era. A remnant of the original E. Gomme label remains to the top drawer.

Measures; 84cm wide x 117cm High x 48cm Deep (inc handles)

In lovely condition with only very minor wear and tear commensurate with age. The drawers and doors open and close freely. This piece has had a delicate clean and polish.
