BETTY JOEL FOR TOKEN WORKS

AFRICAN MAHOGANY DRAWERS

British, 1928. This rare piece was produced by British furniture maker Betty Joel for Token Works in 1928. It oozes quality workmanship from every angle and is very likely a one off. While it was made in the early 20th Century the design is clearly ahead of its time, more closely resembling a Mid-Century aesthetic. It is made from exquisite African Mahogany with solid oak drawers, the hand signed maker mark sits behind a glass panel to the reverse and each drawer has its own click in latch underneath.

Would make for a beautiful TV unit or low sideboard / chest of drawers. The glass inset to the top can be removed.

Betty Joel was an early 20th Century British furniture maker held in high esteem by her contemporaries with examples of her work held in the V&A.

Measures: 116cm Long x 52cm High x 59cm Deep

In excellent condition. The drawers open and close freely and the legs are solid. Has had a light Danish oil and polish to protect and nourish.
