A stunning late 19th Century light oak piece in the classic arts and crafts, Gothic Revival tradition. Exudes the typical design traits of the era; from the elegant detail on the lower stretchers to the pretty inlay on the bottom of each leg. The slender drawers are dovetail jointed.
Makers label to the reverse for Thomas & Homan’s of Rochester. There is little info available about them but I did discover the executors of Charles Dickens estate engaged this firm to dispose of the assets from the authors Kent residence, Gad’s Hill Place.
Measures; 100.5cm wide x 69cm high x 57.5cm deep
In excellent condition, this piece has been refinished by hand with a delicate sand followed by multipe coats of beeswax and then polished. The inlay is in good condition however there is a missing section to one side of the rear left leg.
