OAK ARTS & CRAFTS DRESSING CHEST
A truly stunning early 20th Century light solid oak dressing chest, very much in the Cotswold School and Heals Of London aesthetic of the 1920’s & 30s. It is highly likely to be a one-off item. The mirrored section is easily removable (4 screws) should one want this as a straight chest of drawers.
Exquisite workmanship has been gone into the construction with pretty dovetail joints and brass locks to each drawer. The drawers themselves have the most beautiful oak veneer over solid oak, positioned so the grain criss crosses on each drawer. The pretty bevelled mirror sits within a lightly sculpted frame. This piece oozes quality, the weight of each drawer alone is seriously impressive!
Measures; 99cm wide x 49.5cm deep x 150cm high (or 80cm as Chest of Drawers)
In excellent antique condition, the piece has had a light hand sand to remove the ageing varnish while retaining it’s antique character then finished with beeswax to retain the light colour tone. There is a chip to one of the handles and on the left hand side there is a small gap between the oak boards. This is not a split in the wood. Please see photos.
